In a pretty rural village in the Chew Valley and at the foothills of the Mendip Hills, Compton Martin is in an area of outstanding natural beauty. The cottage sits next to the village church, opposite the village pond and Post Office. It's location is perfect for a relaxing family holiday, with nearby Cheddar Gorge and Wookey Hole or for walking, cycling, fishing and shooting groups connecting with nature and looking for a base to explore the West Country. The Chew Valley boasts some wonderful eateries with it's highly recommended and award winning pubs and restaurants.

PETS are permitted only with prior approval. £25 per pet fee applies. All pets must be on the lead at all times. Pet owners are responsible for cleaning up all pet mess. Pets are not allowed on furniture at any time or upstairs. Any evidence of pets on furniture may incur extra cleaning fees. No flees or allergies, fully vaccinated dogs only.
A security deposit of £250 is required. This must be received within five (5) days of booking the property. The deposit automatically converts to a security/damage deposit upon arrival. The deposit is NOT applied toward rent; however, it is fully refundable within (14) days of departure, provided the following provisions are met:
No damage is done to the property or its contents, beyond normal wear and tear. (If there is additional damage over the £150 cost, you are entitled to cover this, receipts will be produced)
All rubbish is placed in rubbish bin, and dirty dishes are placed in the dishwasher and cleaned.
All keys are left with the house keeper who will meet you at the property at 10am on the day of departure.
No bedding, towels, blankets or cushions are lost or damaged.
The full rental charge is due 7 days before your arrival date
Cancellations that are made less than 7 days before the arrival date will not be refunded their deposit.
The maximum number of guests is limited to 8 persons.
The property requires a 3 night minimum stay. Longer minimum stays may be required during holiday periods. If a rental is taken for less than 3 days, the guests will be charged the 3 night rate.
All linens, towels and facilities are included in the rent.
DAILY CLEANING SERVICE
While linen and bath towels are included, a daily maid service is not included on the rental rate. However it is available at an additional cost
PLACES TO VISIT & THINGS TO DO
The Ring O Bells pub, a 5 minute walk through the village. The modern British menu offers local and seasonal ingredients. You can often see local game in the winter months and wild garlic from the Coombe in the Spring. A traditional village pub with a beautifully landscaped sunny family garden. In the winter the largest inglenook fireplace in the Valley is guaranteed to warm you up after a long winter’s walk! Recently voted Best Community Pub in England & wales, 2014 Alistaire Sawday’s Guide and AA 4 Star Award for accommodation and food.

Compton Martin lies between Blagdon and Chew Valley Lake. Fishing for trout is very popular on Blagdon Lake, and bird watching on Chew Valley Lake, the South West’s largest lake, with over 270 different recorded species. There’s also a sailing club which is very popular.
Explore the Mendips many walks and cycle routes, and the ‘Mendip Pub Trail’ - a 45 mile route connecting 6 pubs from the Butcombe Brewery (The Ring O Bells in the village being one of them)
For families the legendary Wookey Hole caves are only 20 minutes away, and Cheddar Gorge and Caves just a minute drive.
The historic city of Wells is 20 minutes over the top of the Mendips and has a market on Wednesdays and Saturdays, visit the Bishops Palace and the Cathedral.
Drive 25 minutes to the coastand Weston-Super-Mare beaches.
25 minutes to the beautiful spa town Bath and visit the world famous Bath Spa and shop in the many great independent boutiques.
